Sport Ireland Renews Sponsorship of KPMG Women's Irish Open
Sport Ireland has confirmed the renewal of its sponsorship for the KPMG Women's Irish Open. Timed to coincide with Women in Sport Week, this announcement reaffirms the organization's dedication to fostering the growth of women's sports and hosting premier athletic events across Ireland.
The 2026 tournament is scheduled for August 27-30 at The K Club's Palmer South Course, a venue with a rich history of hosting major competitions, including three European Opens and two Irish Challenges.
Since its reintroduction to the Ladies European Tour calendar in 2022, the KPMG Women's Irish Open has rapidly established itself as a premier event. It consistently draws top international golfers to Ireland, enjoys significant spectator attendance, and reaches an expanding global broadcast audience.
This renewed partnership with Sport Ireland signifies a substantial investment in both the tournament and the ongoing advancement of women's golf in Ireland. Sport Ireland's backing has been instrumental in the event's success and growth, boosting its profile and ensuring it continues to draw elite international competitors to Irish courses.
Beyond attracting world-class talent, the KPMG Women's Irish Open also offers an invaluable platform for emerging Irish golfers. Through special invitations and qualifying berths, Irish amateurs gain the opportunity to compete alongside the sport's elite and acquire crucial experience within a professional tournament setting.
Dr. Úna May, CEO of Sport Ireland, commented: "At Sport Ireland, we are deeply committed to supporting and promoting women's sport across all levels. Therefore, it is with great pleasure, especially during Women in Sport Week, that we renew our sponsorship of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open. This investment is crucial for elevating the profile of women's golf nationwide and inspiring future generations of golfers. It exemplifies one of our many strategic investments aimed at developing golf in Ireland. Since 1999, we've also funded the Golf Ireland Professional Scheme, providing direct financial support, coaching expertise, access to Golf Ireland’s National Academy, its Quinta do Lago training base, and resources from the Sport Ireland Institute."
Cian Branagan, CEO of ForeFront Group, expressed his profound gratitude: "We are immensely thankful for Sport Ireland's ongoing support. Their investment in the KPMG Women’s Irish Open is critically important for the tournament's continued growth and evolution. This support enables us to attract some of the most prominent figures in women's golf to Ireland, while simultaneously offering a unique chance for Irish amateur players to gain professional tournament experience. Fostering a pathway and platform for emerging Irish talent is a passion of ours, and Sport Ireland’s endorsement is vital in making this a reality."
The tournament continues its crucial role in encouraging golf participation, promoting women's sport, and reinforcing Ireland's status as a host nation for world-class international sporting events.
Further details concerning the upcoming KPMG Women's Irish Open, including ticket information and player announcements, are expected to be released in the coming months.
