Shane Lowry's Spectacular Hole-in-One at Houston Open Boosts Masters Hopes
Golfer Shane Lowry once again demonstrated his skill, achieving another hole-in-one at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, adding to his already impressive series of such accomplishments. Eager for a confidence-boosting performance ahead of the upcoming Masters, the Offaly native executed an ace on the 170-yard second hole at Memorial Park.
Initially tied for 34th place with five under par by the end of the previous day, this hole-in-one immediately propelled Lowry into the top-20, reaching seven under par. For the 2019 Open champion, this was a much-needed moment of joy.
His recent outings had been marred by setbacks: in January, he squandered a chance to win the Dubai Invitational with a double bogey on the 72nd hole, and four weeks prior, he lost a three-shot lead with three holes remaining at the Cognizant Classic. Following these, he missed the cut at both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship.
In recent years, Lowry has established himself as a true specialist in hole-in-ones. He had previously made aces on the 16th hole at Augusta National during the Masters, on the famous "island" 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass, and on the iconic seventh hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
