World number three Charley Hull and her Solheim Cup teammate Leona Maguire are confirmed to participate in the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, taking place from August 27-30 at The K Club. Both esteemed golfers have voiced their enthusiasm for the upcoming tournament.
Hull, who previously secured a fourth-place finish at Carton House last year, expressed her eagerness to return, stating, “I am excited to return to the KPMG Irish Open this summer.” She fondly recalled her initial experience in Ireland, noting, “Last year was my first time playing an event in Ireland, and it exceeded all expectations. The family-friendly atmosphere is one of the best crowds I have played in front of and a highlight from last year.” Anticipating the new venue, she added, “Hopefully, they come out again to support us, particularly as we are moving to a new venue, The K Club. I’ve heard so many good things about this course and can’t wait to get started.”
Leona Maguire also shared her deep connection to the event. “It means the world to me to be teeing it up at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open again this year,” Maguire commented. She emphasized the unique joy of competing on home soil: “There’s something incredibly special about coming back home, playing on Irish soil at The K Club and feeling that support from the fans who’ve been behind me every step of the way. The atmosphere is always electric, and I’m really looking forward to embracing that and giving it my all in front of a home crowd.” Maguire will be aiming for her maiden victory on Irish turf at The K Club’s Palmer South Course, a venue that has previously hosted three European Opens.
With a substantial prize fund of €450,000, the KPMG Women’s Irish Open has swiftly re-established its position as a premier women’s golf event in Europe since its reintroduction to the Ladies European Tour (LET) schedule in 2022, following a ten-year hiatus. Beyond Hull and Maguire, the tournament is expected to attract a robust contingent of Irish talent, including LPGA Tour star Lauren Walsh and promising amateur Beth Coulter, who plans to turn professional this year. Coulter will also reunite with former amateur teammates such as Anna Foster, Aine Donegan, Sara Byrne, Annabel Wilson, and Canice Screene, alongside other leading Irish amateurs.
