First Impressions

Having no prior experience with Big Max push carts, I was intrigued by what to expect, but given their strong reputation in golf trolley design, I wasn’t surprised to find the trolley uniquely folded flat straight out of its packaging.

The only assembly required was clicking in the two rear wheels. The instructions proved very helpful in understanding the unfolding mechanism, which turned out to be straightforward once the release knob was located.

The Blade Trio feels lightweight yet sturdy, exuding stability and excellent rolling performance, indicative of its high-quality construction and thoughtful design. The push handle is generously padded with thick foam, suggesting it will withstand years of use. While the elasticated bag cords are easy to adjust, the lower one could benefit from increased sturdiness.

The trolley securely accommodated the Big Max Dry Lite Tour 2 bag without any issues.

It also features a compartment for scorecards and dedicated attachment points for an umbrella, water bottle, and GPS holders.

On-Course Performance

The trolley’s compact fold allowed it to fit easily in my car boot, and it unfolded in just seconds. Touted as 40% more compact than other trolleys and weighing only 6.7kg, transporting it to and from the car was a breeze.

My cart bag settled perfectly, and the trolley, with the bag, rolled effortlessly and maintained a straight line without requiring any adjustments. The front wheel alignment can be fine-tuned if needed, using the provided key.

I tested the trolley on my local course, which features mostly flat terrain with a couple of moderate inclines. The trolley performed exceptionally well, navigating the inclines without any difficulty.

The simple yet effective foot brake worked perfectly. This trolley is well-equipped to handle all types of terrain seamlessly. For winter golf, where muddy conditions are common, the wheels can be easily clicked off for cleaning before storage, a very convenient feature.

Final Thoughts

I was thoroughly impressed with this trolley! Its outstanding performance, innovative design, and flat storage profile (just 20cm thick) make it incredibly easy to store in lockers, car boots, or garages without taking up much space.

As expected from a market leader, the trolley boasts excellent construction quality. While there are optional accessories available, such as drinks, umbrella, and GPS holders, it’s disappointing that these must be purchased separately! In today’s competitive market, where many manufacturers offer accessories at no extra cost, it seems a notable oversight for a golf trolley priced at nearly £400. Despite this minor annoyance, the Big Max Dri Blade Trio Trolley is definitely a keeper!
